‘Smoking Takes Away my Voice’ is an experimental video piece that explores the practice of smoking through ritualistic and superficial ways. The film is interested in smoking as ritual: a method of cleansing and connecting to a higher world in contrast to its passive modern performance experienced through chain smoking, flavoured cigarettes and city rave culture. 

 

The video is structured as a music video, combining improvised music sets together with collaborative performances from the local Shanghai club scene. It will play with the dreamy smoke stage in the AUUUUDITORIUM in contrast to the smokey club dance floor, creating it’s own world between dream and reality.

《吸烟夺走我的声音》是一部实验性影像作品，通过仪式化和表面化的方式探讨吸烟这一行为。影片关注吸烟作为一种仪式的可能性——一种净化与连接更高维度世界的方法，与现代社会中吸烟的被动表现形成对比，如连续吸烟、调味香烟以及都市狂欢文化中的吸烟体验。

影片采用音乐录影带的形式，以即兴音乐表演与上海本地俱乐部文化中的协作表演相结合。它将在AUUUUDITORIUM的“梦幻烟雾舞台”和俱乐部“烟雾弥漫的舞池”之间构建一个介于梦境与现实之间的世界。
