These tiles were made in comment on my relationship living in The Netherlands as a Chinese/Swedish Person. I was interested in the term 'kraakware' which refers to the 'fake porcelain' the Dutch made in the 1700 during the trade wars between China and The Dutch East India company. I was interested in how the branding of Chinese products have drastically changed from one of 'prestige' and 'luxury' to 'fake' and 'bad quality'. The tiles tell a story of travel, trade and company.
