GOLDENFISH is a performance video created during my stay at the Venice Casino Hotel in Macao where they have recreated Venice as an indoor shopping mall. This was just after Christmas 2023, the last days of COVID restrictions in Macao, so the hotel was empty leaving a ghostly annoying Christmas jingle lingering throughout the venue.

Staying in the hotel I kept thinking about how the Eastern Gaze tend to glorify the West as ‘luxurious’ and ‘advanced’. I decided to turn myself into a Goldfish, which has widely different connotation in the Western and Eastern world. In the video, the goldfish dances expressively throughout the boulevard of empty luxury shops.
